WaterSHED Hosts Water Financing Forum in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

On November 10th, WaterSHED hosted a Water Financing Forum in Phnom Penh for small-scale water entrepreneurs from across Cambodia. Organized as part of the International Finance Corporation’s National Forum between financial institutions and small-medium enterprises (SMEs), WaterSHED’s Financing Forum greatly increased water entrepreneurs’ awareness of affordable financing opportunities locally to expand their distribution systems and increase treatment capacity.

WaterSHED invited major lending institutions and government regulators to network directly with the water entrepreneurs, which spurred several new financing partnerships now under negotiation. The meeting was oversubscribed as several additional water suppliers traveled to the meeting after learning of it by word-of- mouth. Pleased with the meeting’s initial success, the water entrepreneurs proposed forming a member association to build on the momentum generated at the meeting.
