WaterSHED Presents Innovative Financing Strategies at World Bank Meeting
At the 2nd Annual Plenary Meeting of Small-Scale Private Piped Water Suppliers, held during 21-22 April, 2011 in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, USAID’s regional WaterSHED program presented its approaches to affordable financing strategies from local private institutions to water entrepreneurs seeking to upgrade their treatment processes and/or expand the number of household connections. Organized by the World Bank’s Water and Sanitation Programme (WSP), the annual meeting brings together newly formalized water entrepreneurs to share ideas and challenges, and to learn about regulatory, financial, and technical best practices and solutions. Participating businesses will have access to lower cost financing by pooling their investment risks and by reducing transaction expenses. USAID has partnered with WSP in Cambodia in order to scale up access to this facility.
